Officially "on the agenda" for Mon 4/9

Middle School Math is officially on the agenda for Monday night's School Committee meeting 7:30pm. Dr. O'Neil will be providing an update during the Communications section of the meeting and Marj Andresen is scheduled to speak during Citizen's Input. The process allows for other citizens to sign up for that section of the meeting upon arrival.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Marj Andresen gave an excellent presentation highlighting the reasons why many parents have been trying to have Advanced Math re-instated at the middle schools. She showed that Andover is taking a different route than all of our peer towns, and that the math scores of our middle school students are on a downward trend.

The administration's response was even more shocking this time than in prior discussions. Superintendant Bach proclaimed that if it were up to her, there would be no tracking in any subject, for grades K-12 in Andover. There would be absolutely no ability grouping, even in Andover High School.

This comment is an indication of just how out-of-touch this administration is with the local values in the Town of Andover, and how extreme their position is. Perhaps it is time for Superintendent Bach to move to another school district that shares her values, rather than continuing to impose them on Andover, against our wishes.

As Larry said I did a presentation at the School Committee meeting this past Monday night. If you didn't get a chance to see it and are interested you can watch the rebroadcast (and see Dr. O'Neil's presentation/update on middle school math as well).

School Committee Meetings will be replayed at 8 PM on the Thursday after the meeting and again at 7 AM Sunday after the meeting.

If you want further information you can contact me directly.
